Hello! I’ve been working in PPC for over 15 years and in the UK marketing industry for a bit more. You probably read my home page intro so here is a little bit more of my story.

When I left school I spent a few years in some mind numbingly dull jobs that involved a lot of photocopying and filing. When some of my best mates were planning a trip around the world, I didn’t need much convincing to join up. Somewhere between the semi sleepless nights in smelly hostels, many hours spent day dreaming on the beach and the seemingly endless bus journeys, I decided I should break into the ad industry upon my return. When I got back, I studied business & marketing. First a degree, then a masters (mainly because I loved student life a bit too much). After a short post-uni vegetative spell getting rejected by the best ad agencies in the world, I landed my first job in media sales and absolutely loved it.

The next step was sales for a comparison shopping engine where I became country manager, then sales for a PPC agency. I was the sales guy who could do the PPC audit which is a rare thing. A few twists and turns later, I found myself as Managing Director of the PPC agency at the age of 28. Over the next 11 years, I helped diversify the agency into wider digital, consulting, creative services and helped build an attribution tech start-up, eventually leading three group companies as UK CEO for a bit.

Doing a lot of sales in PPC is part of my story as its given me a very strategic view over 100’s of brands challenges, how to get start-ups working, often managing / building the teams that actually delivered upon proposals and developing long term relationships with lots of nice customers (also some tough customers but you get used to that. I’ve been a tough customer myself at times).

Then came COVID — a curveball for everyone. Afterwards, I took on a new challenge as CMO of an online retailer, while running a few PPC campaigns and SEO consulting projects on the side to boost family income. That side hustle grew into a small digital agency called DO MORE… but having spent much of my career leading agencies, I realised what I enjoy most is doing the work. And so, Oli Hunt PPC was born.

These days, I get my biggest kicks from helping businesses grow — exceeding ROI expectations, adding value wherever possible, and constantly learning (currently deep in AI and fresh from the Marketing Week Mini MBA).

As a family man with two young kids, freelancing also gives me the flexibility to help with the school runs and do bedtime stories — but don’t mistake me for a lazy guy. I work long hours, early starts, late finishes, quite a bit on weekends, and yes — the laptop always comes on holiday.

I’m based in Hampshire but often in London a few days a week.
