WHAT HAPPENED TO DO MORE?
DO MORE is NO MORE but thank you to all those who came along for the adventure.
I consciously accidently started DO MORE, a search marketing consulting agency in my first bout of PPC freelancing. I was getting offered more work than I could handle so was a natural step to expand into an agency (and cover other channels). I got super ambitious. I started hiring, building infrastructure/tech and investing in new business knowing all too well from running agencies in the past not to bank on referrals. We had a great first full year of trading with some minor profits all on a shoestring investment.
But then we started losing customers for XYZ reasons. All the operating costs seem to go up and next came 3 loss making months in a row. To turn things around I was working silly hours doing business development, managing the agency plus doing PPC campaign management myself. After a few months with a never say die attitude it became clear to me it was unsustainable - small agency life is tough. I could dig a deeper hole I probably would not be able to get out of or I could pivot back to freelancing before it was too late.
So I’ve pivoted back to PPC freelancing. I ‘ve kept the legal company and swallowed a bit of a loss. I hope my key stakeholders being customers, co-founders/employees and a mate who invested (which I will pay back) understand. Sorry folks! Yes, its been a humbling experience but a transformative one as I know now I have a real talent for PPC on my own. A number of customers have entrusted me to deliver for them long term and I don’t want to let them down.
